BALI, BEREDUKASI.COM — SIDANG Umum ke 20 Konfederasi Wartawan ASEAN secara resmi dibuka oleh Staf Ahli Gubernur Bali, Wayan Serina mewakili Gubernur Wayan Koster yang berhalangan hadir, Rabu (12/10).
Acara pembukaan yang ditandai dengan pemukulan Gong itu berlangsung di Ballroom Eden Hotel Kuta dan diikuti oleh delegasi dari 7 negara ASEAN, terdiri dari Club of Cambodian Journalists (CCJ), National Union of Journalists’ Malaysia (NUJM), National Press Club of the Philippines (NPC), Confederation of Thai Journalists (CTJ), Vietnam Journalists Association (VJA), Laos Journalists Association (LJA), Indonesian Journalists Association
Dalam sambutan tertulis yang dibacakan Staf Ahli, Gubernur Bali sangat mengapresasi dipilihnya Bali sebagai tuan rumah The 20th General Essembly Confederation Of Asean Journalist yang digelar dari tanggal 12 sampai 14 Oktober 2022.
Selain itu Gubernur juga menyampaikan terima kasih atas peran penting media massa yang bersama dengan pemerintah menggaungkan untuk Ayo ke Bali.
“Covid19 yang hampir dua tahun terjadi membuat kita harus semangat bersama membuat Bali bangkit lagi,” ujar Wayan Koster.
Wayan Koster juga menyampaikan tentang keberadaan media massa yang merupakan mitra penting untuk pembangunan serta pemulihan kembali pasca Covid.
“Kami berharap para peserta delegasi dari ASEAN dan perwakilan peserta dari PWI daerah untuk bersama menikmati potensi wisata Bali serta alamnya dan jika berkenan para peserta juga bisa mampir pada produk UMKM yang saat ini banyak ditemui di Bali,” ujar Wayan Serina.
Sementara Ketua Umum PWI Pusat Atal.S Depari dalam sambutanya mengatakan bahwa General Esemblly CAJ ini sangat penting karena menentukan arah organisasi. Selama 3 tahun CAJ vakum dalam melaksanakan kegiatan.
“Ke depan kita akan melakukan kegiatan pertukaran Wartawan ASEAN untuk pengembangan SDM. Jika secara resmi saya menerima bendera Estafet CAJ ini, maka banyak yang kita bisa buat bersama,” tegas Atal.
Atal juga menyampaikan keprihatinannya terkait tragedi pembunuhan 24 anak di Thailand Utara dan juga tragedi di Stadion Kanjuruhan Malang, Jawa Timur yang mengakibatkan seratus jiwa lebih melayang.
Dalam kesempatan itu, President CAJ, Tep Chai Yong mengatakan, acara yang dilakukan di Bali ini merupakan acara yang ditunggu-tunggu, karene selama 2 tahun dunia mengalami pandemi covid-19, namun pandemi tidak menghalangi kegiatan lainya karena bisa dilakukan secara online.
