Pada acara tersebut, Dansektor memberikan apresiasi kepada Rektor dan Ketua LP4M Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) Bandung. Atas perhatian serta dukungannya pada Program Citarum Harum.
Dansektor 5 Citarum Harum Kolonel Inf Sumarno mengatakan, kita semua telah mengetahui bahwa, “Citarum merupakan salasatu sumber dan “urat nadi” kehidupan masyarakat Jawa Barat termasuk juga DKI Jakarta”.
“Sungai Citarum diutamakan dalam pemenuhan ketersediaan air baku, kebutuhan pengairan, pertanian, peternakan, industri sampai dengan kebutuhan energi listrik. Namun DAS Citarum mengalami pencemaran dan kerusakan. Untuk itu, diperlukan pembenahan,” jelas Dansektor 5.
Selanjutnya Kolonel Sumarno juga mengatakan, “Sejak dicanangkannya Program Citarum Harum. Penataan serta revitalisasi ekosistem di DAS Citarum, terus dilakukan dan telah menjadi agenda Nasional Pemerintah Pusat”.
“Dengan adanya Program Citarum Harum ini, Satgas bekerja dengan prinsif satu kesatuan Komando. Yang didalamnya melibatkan Pemerintah, TNI yang bersinergi dengan seluruh stakeholder dan elemen masyarakat,” terang Kolonel Inf Sumarno.
Maka kata Dansektor 5 Kolonel Inf Sumarno, bahwa kegiatan pembersihan dan penataan DAS Citarum. Serta sosialisasi terhadap masyarakat untuk mewujudkan Citarum yang bersih, saat ini sudah terlihat dan menunjukkan hasil yang signifikan.
Pada Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) kali ini, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) Bandung menempatkan 151 orang Mahasiswa di Sektor 5 dan 151 Mahasiswa di Sektor 21.
