Ada sesuatu yang menarik, ketika ada tampilan dari para siswa-siswi SMP Yayasan Budi Bakti atau yang lebih “sohor” dengan nama SMP YBB Bandung. Yaitu para siswa-siswinya menampilkan Seni Tradisionl Sunda yang bernama Seni “Gondang”.
“Sengaja kami menampilkan Seni Gondang ini. Karena memang SMP YBB ini, sangat peduli dengan Seni Tradisional Sunda,” kata Nanang Suryana, S.Pd, selaku Kepala SMP YBB Bandung ini, usai menyaksikan penampilan para siswa-siswinya.
Memang untuk SMP YBB Bandung, yang berlokasi di Jl. Citepus 2 no.3 (Kawasan Lanud Husein Sastranegara) Kota Bandung ini. Sejak tahun 1980 sudah mempertahankan Ekskul Seni Tradisi Sunda.
Bahkan untuk persiapan dalam acara “Festival Bandung Ulin” ini. Persiapan latihan Seni Gondang ini, hanya dua minggu.
“Jadi mohon maaf kalau penampilannya belum begitu sempurna. Biasa mendadak bahwa SMP YBB harus menampilkan Seni Gondang,” jelas Nanang.
Seni Gondang ini pertama dibentuk berdasarkan pengamatan Guru Kesenian yaitu Ucep dan Sang Kepala Sekolah yang mengamati para peserta didinya yang rata-rata orang Sunda dan suka pada bercanda. Akhirnya dikumpulkan dan dibentuklah Grup Seni Gondang. Dan ketika tampil dibantu juga oleh Cacan pemain Kendang dan Uca pemain Kecapi.
Ada yang “khas” di SMP YBB ini yaitu mempertahankan Seni Tradisi Tari Klasik, begitupun dengan Tari Jaipong di sekolah ini, Tari Jaipong juga masih Klasik.
Bahkan baru-baru ini sedang mempersiapkan Seni Gending Karesmen. Naskah karya Didi (almarhum) yang berjudul “Kembang Panca Warna” yang bercerita tentang Pancasila. Sangat bagus jika ditampilkan dalam acara Hari Kemerdekaan seperti sekarang ini.
Para pemain Seni Gondang dari SMP YBB ini, melibatkan para peserta didik kelas 8 dan 9.
